Pest Control in Sale, Urmston, Timperley and Altrincham Spring & Summer 2010

Pest and vermin control in Lancashire, Manchester and Cheshire has seen a brisk start this year which is surprising given the somewhat colder (weather of this last winter|winter of 2009/10}.

Pest and Vermin controllers were kept busy with the usual town centre rodent problems all thoughout the winter of 2009/10, but the relatively cold late winter has already seen ant infestations coming in.

The fairly wet summers of the last few years were not to the liking of the hymenoptera (wasps, bees and ants) but 2010 looks like it is going to be a active year for flying ant work.

Usually ants make nests under the floors of homes and inside cavity walls causing a lot of foraging ants to infest food store areas.

However it is at their mating time when they are at their most troublesome as they produce winged males and queens which then fly off to mate.

The appearance of many thousands of these winged ants inside your home can be traumatic indeed.

A relatively new pest was quite troublesome in the Cheshire, Lancashire and Manchester area last season, the Varied Carpet Beetle (Anthrenus verbasci).

It was not common for pest operatives in Manchester, Cheshire and Lancashire to deal with these pests until lately but they seemed to appear from nowhere in recent times and already this season has seen sightings of these beetles in substantial numbers.

They have a similar life cycle to moths their larvae, known as woolly bears can eat natural fibres and can do great damage to carpets and any fabrics. They can be a difficult and tricky pest to remove.

Those involved in pest control note that Bed Bugs are carrying on their come back in the Manchester, Cheshire and Lancashire area, frequently arriving as hitch-hikers in the suitcases of returning holiday makers.

Regularly the first reaction of unfortunate people who realise that they have been infested with these horrible,blood-sucking creatures is to destroy the old beds and get.

This is often a costly error as despite their name bed bugs not only hide in beds and in an infested room will be found everywhere within up to five metres of the bed, in cupboards, drawers etc, even in electrical and telephone sockets and the new beds will be quickly re-infested.

Most people confuse bed bugs with dust mites which cannot be seen by the naked eye. They both a different type of pest control.

They dine exclusively on blood which they drink from their sleeping victims. People often associate bed bugs with insanitary living conditions but nothing could be less true, they do not need grime, they eat you!
